Need for Environmental Consciousness

Honourable Chief Guest, Principal, Dear teachers and my dear friends, I am here to speak on the need for environmental awareness. Environmental pollution is one of the major hazards that are threatening the ecological balance. The problem of pollution has become very serious today. A man has interfered too much with nature.  As a result, the environment has polluted includes air, water, soil etc. It has been polluted all sorts of life as human, animal and vegetation affected directly or indirectly. Step by step, the precious gifts of nature are being destroyed and human life is being shortened by the polluted air we breathe and unhealthy water we drink.


There are many kinds of pollution such as air pollution, water pollution and noise pollution. Air pollution is mostly caused by the smoke coming out of the chimneys of factories, mills etc. Similarly, water pollution is caused due to the dumping of industrial or manual waste into the rivers or on the surface of the earth. This polluted water causes a number of diseases. Dead bodies are sometimes also floated in the holy rivers which also pollute the water. The increasing traffic in cities is the cause of noise pollution. Horns of vehicles and noise created by loudspeakers at the time of election or some ceremonies cause noise pollution.


All kinds of pollution are harmful to health. Air pollution may cause lung diseases, asthma, eyeful etc. Water pollution results from a number of water-borne diseases like dysentery, cholera etc. Noise about 80 DB causes deafness and other diseases. Also, the ecological balance is disturbed due to pollution. There is a hazardous effect on weather and climate of the earth and global warming, disturbance 1n water table etc may be observed.




We should, therefore, check this pollution. There should be planned industrialisation The debris of industries should not be dumped on the surface of the earth or in the rivers. it should be destroyed’by the use of suitable chemicals. Deforestation should be checked. People should not dump waste. on streets. Check on population growth is also necessary to control the increasing pollution of the earth.
